Interesting wireless on RoadRunner is better then ethernet to AT&T DSL. RR is 3 times the price.

Um.... try AT&T DSL that is comparable with RR HFC. You'll find them to be nearly the same.
You are comparing apples to oranges (bottom tier att dsl with a much better RR offering).
I have top tier DSL at the office and am very happy with it. I'm waiting on an install of an RR circuit to run a regional extension of a socal wisp. The gear is currently running on my DSL with no issues.
ATT is 3/.5 RR appears to be 15/2Mb/s, but the RR does degrade more during rush hour. Both are home grade.
