OhmConnect

I have been using OhmConnect to save some money on my power by turning things off when the grid is overburdened.  It is a way to be green and make some green.  Lately I have a device that is turning off on its own, and I have to figure out why.  You see this device is under their control, so perhaps they turned it off, but how do I know if it was Ohm?  Not sure yet.  Looking at https://app.ohmconnect.com/auto
I can see I made a $1.50 on this device, so I guess it was them who turned off my fan remotely, lol.  I had forgotten that I did this, funny how life can work.  On a different challenge I will give them control of my fridge, as it has a limit of 2 hours and that isn't enough time to defrost the food, so might be a better item for them to control then my fan, which I didn't like turning off so I move to a bigger fan in the living room.  In any event, I have control of what I let them manage, so this is a pretty good way to help the grid on a hot day.

Aliexpress

Amazon isn't the cheapest place to buy things, eBay is but if you can wait for shipment, then Aliexpress is cheaper.  I wonder what this would have cost me on eBay or Amazon.

Amazon:

eBay:Original Xiaomi Hybrid DC Seo In-Ear Earphone 3.5mm Earphone With Mic Wire

$7.58From Sri LankaBuy It NowFree Shipping

so Ali costs 3.39/37.12= 9% of the Amazon price and 3.39/7.58=44% of the eBay price or a 56% discount for waiting 6-8 weeks for your items.  I am not sure what time is worth to you, but these are some discounts.

Aliexpress also has a referral plan:

For every friend that successfully placed their first order, you'll get a US $6.00 coupon to help you save as you shop.
  • US $24.00
If your friends are new to AliExpress, they will get US $24.00 in coupons to get them started.
  • US $6.00
You can get up to 10 coupons every month via inviting friends. After earning 10 coupons, you won't get more of them but you can still invite friends.

Cellphone plans

My free for a year Sprint is over so I have been looking for what to do with 4 lines we got.  T-Moble, Verizon and AT&T are unlikely to have a deal, but maybe on Black Friday?  Anyhow meanwhile I will stay where I am at or use Ultra for $11/month for 6 months 3GB data and call 50 countries, Unreal for $10 unlimited with 1GB LTE, or stay with Sprint but the plan goes up to regular prices, however it includes roaming 2G data in 120 countries, so not the worst deal either.

I wish I could get a deal like unlimited storage with gSuite.

AWS terraform

I have been job hunting for an AWS terraform or k8s job close to home, I figure that once I complete the application process which is asking me to use the terraform registry modules to setup an environment, I will publish this config here as I am not getting paid to do this work, it is part of the application process.  I haven't found any good resources online to solve this, so I will list any that help and my solution. I feel that sharing this gives me more motivation to get the job done. For some reason work isn't just about money anymore.

Sinemia

I was hoping that I could get them to refund the rest of the year I paid for, but no luck yet. So now I can't see movies, nor do I have my money, really helping the breakage for this plan.  I suspect that usage of Sinemia accounts is much lower than MoviePass.  I saw 8 movies on my first month with MoviePass and it was easy, but I had to sit in a bad seat, as I bought them at the theater, with Sinemia I can buy in advance, but I usually don't because it is too hard, often I get frustrated with trying to plan a movie long term and don't use it.  They do let you roll over.  All in all it might work for some people, but I saw my wife book a movie in 2 minutes using the Century Cinema app, which is so much easier.  Not as cheap, but with the issues that this Sinemia app has, maybe worth it.  Besides Sinemia serves ads now in a really annoying way.

My parting words to Sinemia

The experience of trying to book a movie with Facebook, Atom and Sinemia, then getting billed again makes me want to pull my hair out.  Seriously this is so much worst then MoviePass.  The icing on the cake is the 1.70+1.80 you want to charge me today for a move I was expecting to see for free when I signed up for this service, yet the ToS keep changing.
